VisitEngland's new campaign to encourage Brits to holiday at home

VisitEngland will be launching its largest domestic marketing campaign for 2016 next month to promote memorable ‘moments’ that can only be experienced across the nations and regions of Great Britain & Northern Ireland. The ‘Home of Amazing Moments’ national campaign formally kicks off in May to encourage people to take holidays at home by inspiring them with stunning images of the amazing experiences on offer across the UK. It is the fifth year that a campaign has been run by VisitEngland to boost domestic tourism and get more people out exploring Britain. As in previous years, the campaign is run in partnership with the national tourism organisations of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as tourism businesses across the country. A number of travel trade partners are confirmed to encourage engagement in the campaign, these include; Thomas Cook, TUI, The Travel Network Group, Advantage, Barrhead Travel, Premier Travel and tour operators Shearings, Bourne Leisure, Hoseasons, Superbreak and Attraction World. Partners will be utilising imagery and logos in their advertising, POS and online, so look out for home of amazing moments’ retail activity over the coming months. As well as showcasing amazing moments and experiences across the UK the digital, TV, print and outdoor marketing campaign also wants people to upload images of their own memorable moments using the hashtag #OMGB, some of which will be shared across VisitEngland and VisitBritain’s Twitter, Instagram or Facebook platforms. VisitEngland/VisitBritain Chief Executive Sally Balcombe said “By showcasing the sheer diversity of incredible, one-of-a-kind holiday experiences on offer right here on our doorstep we want to inspire people to book a holiday at home and discover their own amazing moments, driving tourism growth across the whole of the UK.” This year’s Home of Amazing Moments domestic campaign is part of a global #OMGB campaign to attract more tourists to come and explore Britain.  It is part of the UK Government’s GREAT Britain campaign, which showcases what makes Britain a great destination for tourists. Tourism is Britain’s seventh largest export industry and third largest service sector, worth more than £126 billion to the UK economy.
