We love a good shindig, particularly when it’s celebrating the great and the good of our industry. Last night was no different and we were proud title sponsors of the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2019/20, celebrated against the grand backdrop of Truro Cathedral.
Judging for the event took over seven months as the crack team of experts puzzled and pondered over who was worthy of a win; it was a tough decision for every category and probably the highest calibre entrants we’ve ever had. Ultimately, 77 awards were handed out across 27 different categories, including the new Tourism Business Leadership category too.
Head of Visit Cornwall, Malcolm Bell commented “The awards shine the spotlight of excellence on some of our best and leading tourism operators in Cornwall. It is this excellence that makes Cornwall one of, if not the leading, UK holiday regions. It celebrates not only the businesses but also the team work from staff, managers and owners as only team work can deliver excellence.”
A full list of all the winners is available on the Cornwall Tourism Awards website, but particular congratulations must go to our quality-assessed members:
The Headland Hotel based in Newquay who won Gold as the Business Events Venue of the year and Silver in the Large Hotel of the Year category, both very well deserved.
Coastal Valley Camp and Crafts also based in Newquay, who won Gold as the Touring, Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year.
We were also delighted to present the award for the Winner of Winners, sponsored by Visit Cornwall, which went to Mylor Sailing and Powerboat School.
Huge congratulations to all of the finalists and winners in these hard-fought awards.
