Case Study: Merchant House Hotel

Located in Truro, Merchant House Hotel is a three star period property which has been stylishly and sympathetically refurbished. One of our assessors recently visited the accommodation provider and the service was outstanding, informal, friendly and attentive.

The assessor found the breakfast superb and worthy of a Great4 due to the high quality locally sourced ingredients and another unique feature is that tea or coffee and homemade cake is available daily as a complimentary treat for guests - this really shows their attitude to great customer care and attention.

The bar is wonderfully stocked, and well suited for a Great4whisky icon, as they have a wide and specialist collection of the amber liquid! The property also boasts a dog’s welcome scheme which is exceptional and right for their target audience of walkers to the area.

Merchant House Hotel market themselves as a Hotel.  In the new Quality in Tourism schemes we don’t believe in telling businesses what to call themselves, we believe how you market your property is entirely up to you, as long as you are transparent in your offer then we grade the quality and service, focussing on the customer needs.

Quality in Tourism are on a mission to provide the customers with the information they need and as the body that assesses properties annually we can assure customers of the basics of provision with our Safe, Clean and Legal accolade, and let them know what to expect in terms of quality with our star ratings. Disruptors in the industry have changed the rules, it’s time we changed them too!
