UK tourism reaches record levels
New data from the Office for National Statistics have revealed that the number of visitors to the UK last year reached record levels with 37.5 million visitors.
The data shows that the number of visitors rose by four per cent compared to 2015. The final three months of the year also showed an eight per cent surge in visitors, breaking the 37 million mark for the first time.
Around £22.5bn was spent by visitors in the UK last year, a two per cent increase from 2015 and it has been suggested that the record numbers are as a result of the weak pound following Brexit.
