According to two new reports, the hospitality industry is expected to create 500,000 new jobs by 2020. The reports also showed that the hospitality industry’s contribution to the UK’s economy has grown faster compared to any other sector since the year 2008.
The reports found that the industry currently employs 4.6 million people directly and indirectly. Labour productivity in the industry has also grown at more than double the rate confirming that the hospitality industry is the fourth largest sector in the UK. Figures show that the industry also contributed £161bn to the overall economy last year.
The research also discovered that 17% of all jobs in the UK were related to the hospitality and tourism sector.
